The National Learning Disabilities Awards celebrate excellence in the support for people with learning disabilities and aim to pay tribute to those individuals or organisations who excel in providing quality care.
This year, The Grange (2016) Ltd submitted some nominations to the awards in the England and Scotland Region. We were delighted that Support Worker Bethany, based at The Grange was a finalist in the Support Worker category.
Felicity White Registered Manager wrote in the nomination…
Bethany is full of creativity and enthusiasm and brings a new and exciting dimension to her role. Her understated and gentle approach works well to subtly engage people in a truly person centred way. Bethany has come up with some beautiful ideas for activities and resources and is creative in the way she acquires the materials she needs.
To support Bethany and celebrate the achievement, 5 of the team went along to Birmingham on Friday 29th June for the Gala Dinner and awards ceremony.
The awards were hosted by Sally Phillips and celebrated the sector within 16 categories. The time arrived for the Support Worker – Independent category. The team and the others on our table waited with bated breath for the winner to be announced. And there it was, the winner of the category was Bethany!
To say that Bethany and the team were delighted is somewhat of an understatement!
Sarah Edwards Chief Executive said
We are so incredibly proud of Bethany and her achievement. All too often I hear people say “I’m just a Support Worker”. The role is the backbone to health and social care, these heroes make such a huge contribution to our communities. At The Grange, there absolutely is no ‘just’ and Bethany has proved that! Huge congratulations to Bethany in her achievement. We are delighted to provide the environment where people like Bethany can shine.
